An officer was stabbed by a man early Tuesday morning in Amity Harbor, according to Suffolk police.

Authorities say they received a call around 12:30 a.m. about two men looking into parked vehicles near Gibbs Road and Coolidge Avenue.

Upon arrival, one of the suspects was apprehended while the other fled on foot.

That suspect was located around an hour later. Authorities say the man swung a knife and struck him in the leg and chin before his arrest.

The officer was hospitalized and is expected to be OK.
