Long Beach native Charlie McAvoy is celebrating his Olympic gold with the people he loves most -- his family!
McAvoy posed with his parents in Italy with his dad, Charles Sr., proudly wearing the gold medal around his neck.
Charlie’s mom Jennifer, a second-grade teacher in Plainview, was also with him celebrating the big victory.
McAvoy and some other members of the U.S. men’s hockey team also went to the White House Tuesday ahead of the State of the Union address.
Bayport Congressman Andrew Garbarino, Nassau GOP Chairman Jesse Garcia, and Suffolk Chairman Mike Torres snapped a photo with Charlie there.
McAvoy was the only Long Islander on Team USA’s men's hockey team.
