An Indian citizen was sentenced Friday in deadly crash that took place in 2005.
Philip Mastropolo was on his way to work on April 11, 2005 when he was struck by Ganesh Shenoy.
Prosecutors said Shenoy ran a red light at the intersection of West Old Country Road and Levittown Parkway in Hicksville.
Shenoy was allegedly going twice the speed limit.
Philip Mastropolo’s daughter, Krystina Morrone, spoke at Shenoy’s sentencing.
“You did not kill a good man. You killed a great man," she said to the defendant, who did not look her way.
Shenoy left the country for India 14 days after the crash, prosecutors said.
While his Indian passport had been seized by police, prosecutors believe he was able to get a temporary passport from the Indian consulate.
Shenoy was extradited to the U.S. in September 2025.
He pleaded guilty to manslaughter last month.
Shenoy spoke briefly in court at his sentencing.
“Sorry to the family, that’s all I can say, thank you,” he said.
