District Attorney Anne Donnelly says one person has been arrested after a crossing guard was hit by a vehicle this morning in Merrick.

The DA says the driver was allegedly high and fell asleep at the wheel.

According to police, the incident happened around 8 a.m. near the Merrick train station.

The victim was taken to the hospital and is listed in critical condition. Their identity has not been released.
