A brush fire erupted at a pier late Sunday afternoon in Mastic Beach.
The Matic Beach Fire Department says it happened around 5 p.m. on Cranberry Drive.
The flames were spreading toward a nearby home but fire crews say they managed to quickly put out the flames.
Officials say the fire damaged the Town of Babylon fishing pier.
A high risk for brush fires was in effect across Long Island over the weekend, according to the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
