A longtime Nassau County State Senator says he won't be seeking reelection.
Republican Jack Martins made the announcement on his social media campaign pages.
The Mineola lawmaker was first elected to represent the Northwest Nassau’s seventh district from 2011 to 2016.
Two other state senators then held the office from 2017 to 2022 before Martins took back his seat.
He thanked the people of his district, saying, "Though my role will change, my commitment to this community remains."
The GOP has not named a replacement for November's ballot.
The Nassau Democrats are backing former Assemblyman Rory Lancman in the race.
