Accused killer Austin Lynch tried to plan a burglary of his deceased ex-girlfriend's Sayville home from jail, prosecutors said on Friday.
He faces a new charge of conspiracy and was ordered another mental health exam by the judge.
The 18-year-old is accused of fatally shooting Emily Finn last year. Lynch, 18, of Nesconset, was indicted by a Suffolk County grand jury on a second-degree murder charge. Prosecutors say the two had dated for about three years and that Finn had returned home for Thanksgiving break when the shooting happened. He then turned the shotgun on himself in an attempted murder-suicide.
He survived and is facing murder charges.
Lynch allegedly told another inmate where to find jewelry in Finn's family home. He even gave the other inmate a hand-drawn map of the layout, including where the spare key was; under a flowerpot, said prosecutors.
Lynch's defense attorney refused to take part in the arraignment because he claimed his client was not fit for trial. The judge had to impose a not guilty plea on Lynch's behalf.
