Thousands of air conditioners sold nationwide are being recalled.
Daikin Comfort Technologies, Inc. is recalling 13,000 of their AC units and heat pumps because of burn and fire risks.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission made the announcement on June 25.
The recall includes Window-Room-Air-Conditioners (WRAC) and through-the-wall (TTW) air conditioners or heat pumps.
Affected units were sold between April and December 2025 for $850 to $1,500, according to CPSC.
“The heating element can remain energized during a ground fault, despite being turned off, posing a risk of fire or burn injury to consumers,” the recall warns.
Consumers are being told to stop using the products and contact the manufacturer to submit a request for a full refund.
No injuries have been reported, but the plastic did melt in one case, the commission says.
