A Sound Beach dog is recovering after officials say he was severely neglected.

Kobe was brought to the arraignment of Michael O'Brien and Jenecia O'Brien.

The pet gained weight after he was found emaciated, weighing just 37 pounds, which is significantly below the typical 65 to 67 pounds range for his breed.

The Suffolk County district attorney says the defendants were released on their own recognizance, as these offenses are not bail-eligible.
