Suffolk County Police have arrested a second 17-year-old male from Central Islip in connection with the theft last week of a car in Brentwood with a child inside.
Detectives say the teen was taken into custody Sunday. His name is being withheld because of his age. He is charged with third-degree grand larceny, endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree reckless endangerment.
This follows the earlier arrest of another 17-year-old male after a 2014 Honda Civic that was left running on a Whipple Street driveway was stolen around 11:30 p.m. Thursday with a 3-year-old in the back seat. The car was found hours later in Hauppauge, and the child was unharmed, police said.
