The battle for control of Congress is intensifying, and two Republicans at the center of it are making their case for why voters should keep the GOP in power. House Speaker Mike Johnson and New York Rep. Mike Lawler spoke about why they are confident Republicans can maintain control of the House. News 12's Tara Rosenblum sat down with both lawmakers for an exclusive conversation.
Lawler commented, "I not only feel good about the record I'm running on, but also the support from the Speaker and my colleagues." When asked about restrictions on cooperation with ICE, Johnson said, "You have to have local and state leaders who understand that the rule of law is important."

Lawler said he speaks with President Trump multiple times a day and argued that stabilizing commerce will depend on support from U.S. allies. More than 80 members of the House and Senate are not seeking reelection this November. The Speaker praised Lawler, calling him a strong debater.
