Jacqueline Brodman, who has lived at the property with her three young children for under a year, said the lack of communication from property management is particularly unsettling.
"A literal shooting, like right here, we heard the gunshots," Brodman said. "A couple weeks later, our car was stolen here. Just boom. Gone. Someone's window was broken into."
While Brodman said she has tried reaching out to property management regarding her concerns, she rarely receives a response. She noted that while tenants recently received an email regarding e-bikes, management fails to communicate about more critical safety matters.
"Today we got an email about e-bikes, but we're not told about these things," she said.
Another resident, Monique Williams, echoed those frustrations, pointing to a lack of permanent on-site staff as a major obstacle for tenants seeking help.
"We don't even have really a steady leasing agent," Williams said. "So, there's no one to go to in the office. The office is always locked. It is a concern of mine and other residents."
News 12 reached out to Fairfield Properties for comment but did not immediately hear back.
As residents navigate ongoing security concerns, Brodman said she hopes management will take steps to improve transparency and tenant relations.
"I just hope Fairfield reaches out to us and lets us know about these things," she said. "That's all we can ask for."
Suffolk County police say the man peacefully left his home at approximately 4:10 p.m.
