A 25-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after police say he stabbed another man in the neck during a road rage incident in Mastic.
News 12 obtained exclusive surveillance video showing the moments police surrounded the suspect’s vehicle in the Family Dollar parking lot on Montauk Highway in Mastic.
Officers are then seen escorting a man out of the store in handcuffs who police identified as 25-year-old Jeremiah Giraud.
According to police, Jeremiah Giraud, who was a passenger in a Nissan, got into a conflict with a 71-year-old man while on the road.
Both drivers pulled over, and Giraud and the man got out of their vehicles and exchanged words. The confrontation soon turned violent.
Police say Giraud stabbed the man in the neck with a knife, then got back into the Nissan, which drove off onto Ditmas Avenue.
The 71-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
A description of the vehicle was broadcast over police radio, and officers later found the car parked at a Family Dollar.
Police canvassed the store and arrested Giraud at about 10:45 a.m.
He is charged with assault and is expected to be arraigned Wednesday.
