Suffolk police are investigating an incident where a man was found unresponsive in the Great South Bay Thursday evening.
Detectives tell News 12 Lisandro Figueroa, 48, was clamming near the shore of the bay off Tanner Park in Copiague with his brother and two friends.
Figueroa lost consciousness and was found around 5 p.m. floating in the water by a person walking by who then pulled him out of the water.
The bystander called 911 and began CPR until Copiague Rescue paramedics arrived on scene to take over administering medical treatment, according to police.
The victim was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip in serious condition.
Detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
