An investigation into possible animal neglect is underway after 21 dogs were removed from a building in Manorhaven.

Nassau police say officers were called to the building around 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

Video from the scene shows several dogs being placed into a Town of North Hempstead Animal Control van.

A town spokesperson says the dogs were malnourished, did not have food or water, and are now receiving medical care at the town animal shelter.

"It's important that the town and the community come to the rescue and get these animals the care they deserve," said Port Washington resident Christopher Kollar.

Police say the location the dogs were found at was 144 Shore Road and is a commercial address used as a business for boarding dogs.
