Mister Softee is expanding its footprint in Suffolk County with the grand opening of a location in Miller Place.

The newest shop will host the grand opening at 1 p.m. in the Aliano Shopping Center on Friday.

News 12 first told you about the plans for this Route 25A location in December of last year.

The owner, Steve, is the fourth generation in this family business, which he says started in 1956 with his great-grandfather, Frank Fielder, the first Mister Softee distributor in New York.

“I’m incredibly grateful to continue my family’s tradition, with my own trucks and soon, my very first storefront,” Steve said in a post on Instagram.

“We can’t wait to finally share this special moment with our amazing community,” he continued.

Customers heading over to the opening celebration can enjoy a special appearance by the Mister Softee mascot.

There are now a total of five stores on Long Island, all in Suffolk, including Center Moriches, Oakdale, Coram and East Islip.
