The former co-director of the Cinema Arts Center in Huntington spoke with News 12 following his dismissal.

“I was shocked and horrified," said Dylan Skolnik, as he described the past two weeks after being fired from the organization his parents co-founded.

Two weeks ago, the Cinema Arts Centre released a statement saying it had parted ways with Skolnik over what it described as “serious misconduct.”

Skolnik told News 12 he had been booking films on the side as part of a separate business but said the work did not interfere with his responsibilities at the Cinema Arts Centre.

Community members and Cinema Arts Centre members met Tuesday night to discuss what course of action they want to take next.

After sharing what happened, Skolnik and other members said they believe the next step should be a boycott of the Cinema Arts Centre and a public protest.

“We will organize a protest. We need 500, 1,000 people to show up,” said Chris Thaler, of Huntington.
