Beginning Wednesday, thousands of Long Island residents are going to lose coverage to their doctors.

Northwell Health and Fidelis Care have not reached a new deal for patient coverage.

The two companies are at odds over costs.

A Northwell spokesperson says Fidelis proposed treatment reimbursement rates that fall short of the cost of actually delivering care.

They say patients in active treatment or those in need of emergency care will not be turned away.

Fidelis says Northwell continues to seek rates that exceed those paid to comparable providers.
