It’s set to be a weekend filled with memories for Mets fans and players alike, as the 1986 World Series-winning team is being celebrated in Queens, and on Long Island, too.
Memories of the legendary team filled up the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City Thursday night.
A total of 15 members of the team celebrated the 40th anniversary with fans at the museum.
"We walk around downtown New York or we'd walk around Flushing back in the day when we played, and still to this day, people still come up to say ‘Oh hey Doug thanks, nice to meet you.’ They don't forget,” said former Mets pitcher Doug Sisk.
The 1986 team is set to be honored Saturday at Citi Field.
