A teenager is giving back to the charity that helped her family during a critical time 14 years ago.
Gabriella Brennan, of Breezy Point, was born prematurely at Cohen Children’s Medical Center. During that difficult period, the Ronald McDonald House provided a place for her parents to stay nearby while she received medical care.
Now, Brennan is returning the favor.
The teenager has been fundraising and collecting donations for the Ronald McDonald House to support families going through similar situations. She has raised $13,000 this year alone. She also collected toys, toiletries and clothing for families in need.
Brennan says giving back is personal for her and her family.
“They all helped me and my family, so I think it is right for me and my family to help them back,” Brennan said. “To help people going through the same thing, or worse, I think having all the toys and the money can give them what they need.”
Brennan has been fundraising for the Ronald McDonald House for the past three years. In total, she has raised $23,000 for the organization. She says she hopes to pursue a career one day where she can continue helping others.
