Nassau County's African American museum is showcasing some unique artwork for Black History Month.

The museum's director tells News 12 that never-before-seen acrylic paintings by an artist originally from Nigeria, who now lives in West Hempstead, are all throughout the museum.

Regina Williams says one of the highlights is an acrylic painting of Joysetta and Julius Pearse, the late founders of the museum, for whom it is now named.

"Each one has a specific meaning behind it and we're open for anyone to please come to our African American museum and be able to see what we have on display, especially during the month of February, but throughout the rest of the year," said Williams.

Williams says the museum will be hosting a stamp unveiling for Black History Month on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 10 a.m.
