A driver accused of speeding and driving while intoxicated caused a crash on the Meadowbrook State Parkway on Sunday that left one person ejected and seriously injured, according to state police.

Authorities say Deondre Clark was driving a Toyota Camry at an unsafe speed when he struck the rear of a Honda Pilot traveling northbound near Exit M5 around 3 a.m.

The Honda was occupied by a driver and three passengers.

Police say one passenger was ejected and taken to a hospital with serious injuries, while the remaining three occupants had minor injuries.

The 35-year-old Westbury man was arrested and charged with two counts of assault, driving while intoxicated and reckless driving.

The investigation is ongoing.
